Project Background

Watergate Fishing Lake is one of the North East’s top destinations for carp fishing, attracting visitors seeking high quality leisure and outdoor experiences. The director wanted to expand and develop the site to create a more family friendly destination, improve visitor experience and ensure long term sustainable growth. Securing grant funding was key to making these improvements possible while reducing the financial burden on the business.

What we did

We worked closely with the director of Watergate Fishing Lake to identify suitable grant funding and manage the full application process, ensuring the project could move forward efficiently. Here is what we did:

• Completed a wide search to identify a grant that fully supported the planned site expansion and development

• Confirmed with the client which funding was the most reliable and successful option

• Gained a clear understanding of the lake’s business goals, expansion plans and community impact

• Collected all key information required to prepare a strong application

• Fully wrote and submitted the grant application on behalf of the client

• Liaised with the funders throughout the process to ensure smooth communication

• Supported the client through receiving the funds and implementing the expansion

  
  

This funding has allowed Watergate Fishing Lake secure £48,000 to install 5 luxury glamping pods with concrete bases and a brand new air rifle shooting range.

Following the success of last year’s funding, the director returned to us to further expand and develop his site. This included installing solar panels on the clubhouse roof to generate renewable energy and to develop a new website to make booking easier. We were able to secure £8,000 in grant funding which has enabled Watergate Fishing Lake to generate energy to the site and enhance their digital presence.

We often go back and visit the site to see how everything has progressed. It is so rewarding to see another happy client in the process of transforming their visitor experience, boosting tourism and creating a sustainable, long-term business model.
